One of the most popular Modules for Corporate Teambuilding events is our session on Personality Types.

As discussed yesterday we like to teach plenty of skills in our sessions and this really is the one that produces the most results for the least effort!

The Module explores the concept of “People Reading!”

We start by working out our own behaviour “type” or “mixture” of types and the differences in how we like to communicate.

We then learn how we can discern the type of other people and in doing so, determine how they like to be communicated with.

Finally with a few simple tools and techniques we learn how we can slightly change the way that we communicate with each of the types to vastly improve the communication process.

This simple process is a perfect Team Building session!
It enables participants to -

  • Express ideas more effectively
  • Resolve Conflict
  • Manage People better
  • Become more effective dealing with customers and colleagues

Based on the simplified DISC model, one of the major benefits of this dynamic and entertaining session is that it is easily remembered and easily implemented. One of the problems of the more extensive and expensive profiling instruments is that they are so complex that while fascinating at the time, they aren’t really practical in the real world.

Our session is always highly rated with all participants and they often comment just how practical and useful it is!

NSAA Speaker Idol Winner

April 2, 2009

One of the new and very popular additions to the NSAA convention this year was the Speaker Idol competition. With an 8 minute time frame 10 speakers from around the country competed. (I was actually going to be MC for this event, but was switched out at the last minute as they prefered me to work all day Saturday instead.)

The winner by both the judges opinion and peoples choice …..Julie Cross from Qld.  A Great Choice.

The NSAA (National Speakers Association of Australia) Convention for 2009 is over for another year.

It was a huge success and it was arguably the best ever!
Held at the fabulous Sheraton On the Park Sydney, I was asked to be MC for the middle day.
This was the 7th time I have been asked to MC at this particular Convention.

A fantastic line up of speakers that included -

Colin James
Terry Hawkins
Bruce Sullivan
Stephanie Burns
Glen Capelli
Amanda Gore – returning to Australia after 8 years of working in the USA

There was a public component also, a Business Communication MasterClass, put together by the magical Allan Parker, who was also awarded Educator of the Year. Amanda Gore was presented with Speaker of the Year and gave two brilliant keynotes and an hilarious acceptance speech.

If you would like further information on any of those speakers or the MC and Keynote services we provide, please visit our website http://www.timothyhyde.com

or pick up the phone 02 4758 8961 from within Australia   or  61 2 4758 8961 from Outside

Conference Ideas!

March 30, 2009

Having been locked inside a conference venue for 3 days last weekend without once smelling fresh air, I found the following article in the Financial Times very interesting. Some great ideas.

Note.  The NSAA conference I was at, did not fall into most of these traps, though it could be guilty of one or two.

A Professional MC will add

Atmosphere!

Your MC will work hard to inject
“atmosphere” into their events, so that people stay awake, have fun,
but importantly stay focused on the reason for being there. They will work
with your AV team and venue staff to have suitable music, appropriate lighting
and the room at a comfortable temperature.

Note – Did you know that Timothy Hyde is
fully licensed by APRA, allowing you to legally & ethically play any
recorded music during your event? This is an important consideration,
especially for Government, Corporate and Association events.

Sponsor Engagement!

For many conferences and conventions,
maintaining a range of satisfied sponsors and trade displays is vital for the
long term success of the event.

Corporate MC Timothy Hyde will work hard to both keep them happy and ensure a
good flow of delegates visit them during the breaks.

On Stand or Onstage Interviews, Prize
Draws and other Trade Hall activities all work towards this.

Fun!

Timothy does have a bag of tricks that
he uses to keep his audiences awake and receptive to the Speakers and
Presentations you are providing. He will get them focused at the start of the
day, wake them up after lunch and send them off happy and excited.

For a sampling of  the sort of
things we can use to brighten up your next conference, download the MC
Information Document
and look at the Conference Breakers information. These
items can be combined with the MC Role or if you have a specific industry or
internal MC already booked, Timothy can work closely with them to add the
element of fun you require.

Planning!

Many clients are now engaging the MC earlier in the planning process.
They are then able to offer suggestions and advice in the areas of – activities, speakers, timetabling etc.

Participation!

Engaging a professional MC will
transform your involvement in the event to Participation rather than Facilitation.
This is especially true for Planning and Goal Setting Events.

Experience!

With years of experience in the
entertainment industry, Timothy Hyde knows what makes an audience click.
Add to this his involvement in the Meetings and Conference industry, (MIAA
member) and the National Speakers Association of Australia (Timothy is an
accredited Professional Member) he brings unique insights and input into
what will make your next event work!

Freedom!

Using an outside MC allows you to concentrate on the million other jobs that need to be done at every conference. Looking after VIP’s, Board & Committee meetings, partner programs, sponsors, exhibitors etc. The MC will keep the program On Track and On Time, freeing up your effectiveness.

Focus!

An outside expert can often see things that you can’t. They will conduct a briefing with you to get an overview of what you are trying to achieve. They will offer suggestions to make the event more effective. The MC will then customise their introductions, adding humour where appropriate to make the event and messages delivered more memorable.

Flexibility!

A professional MC is always be ready to step in and adapt if things need to be changed. It’s happened before and will happen again. The CEO is late. A speaker doesn’t show up. There’s a Fire Alarm or you need to spend an extra hour or three on the AGM throwing the program out the window.
